The balise are being tested for the first time on this kind
of boat. They will give a position every
90 minutes. Moreover, 3 buttons can be activated and send
3 differents messages : I ask for assistance,I ask for medical
assistance, I have damages on board but am still racing.
Mr Denis Hugues, the director of the Mini-Pavois said in
brief that the length of the first legwill assist the skipper
to handle their sleep and the race in a intelligent way. It
will be preferable to sleep in the beginning as they will
have to be awake during the difficult passages later on (Ouessant
and the Channel tracks). The weather will play an important
role. They will have to choose, depending on the weather,
if they want to benefit from the coast conditions or to
go head West.(Source Sail-online)
